I can not fly a kite in this sky

On the occasion of the children in Gaza being banned from flying kites.

I can not fly a kite in this sky
anymore.
There are too many eyes that can not see it.
Too many lost shoes, and broken eyeglasses;
and one small white glove
with red stains
where the bullet entered.

A kite gets lost
in such a sky;
crowded with flashing metal
that swallows life
and all memory.
